Agent of the Raven Queen
There is a powerful ritual that binds the very essence of consciousness to a physical vessel. This process, known to only the most powerful magic users, produces something far greater than a golem or perhaps any other construct known to mortals. It creates a Warforged, a true life complete with mind and soul. These creatures are often subjected to lives of servitude, taught by their masters that they are nothing more than servants. They often live and die without ever wondering what it means to be free. However one such creature, in the service of a powerful lich began to ask what lay beyond the walls of the master’s tower. The creature, then known by the last three characters of his serial number, C13, wanted more than this life as slave. C13 knew though, that if he voiced his thoughts, he would quickly be destroyed. So he waited. His opportunity came two years after his creation, when a group of adventurers attacked the lich in it’s tower. C13, then nothing more than a smith who created and repaired the arms and armaments of the lich’s soldiers, was left unharmed by the intruders. Seeing his chance, he took the hammer from his anvil and marched into the wilderness. When the freed Warforged arrived in the nearest town, one that had been terrorized by the lich and it’s minions, he pledged peace and despite this, was accepted with quite a bit of unease. He heard the townspeople say he must’ve been some kind of glitch, and took the name as his own. A year later, the tensions created by Glitch’s presence snapped, and he was forced to find another home. In his travels, he met a fellow paradox: a paladin mercenary… I’ll finish this later.
